1. Remove the dressing from the sterile pouch
2. Wash your hands and put on gloves
3. If a dressing is in place, remove. Before applying the new dressing, assess the patient to protect
4. Ensure the surrounding skin is free from creams and moisturisers which could prevent the dressing from sticking
5. Hold the dressing oer the site in need of protection and make sure the wound is lined up with the centre of the wound and secure with tape or a bandage if required.

2. Before applying the dresing, cleanse the wound area with an approproiate cleanser before drying the surrounding skin.
3. Aquacel Extra should overlap at least 1cm onto the skin surrounding the wound.
4. Ensure CovaFoam is placed centrally over the wound and smoothed down. The edges of the dressing should be in contact with the skin.
